COFI employs a field staff of experienced quality control supervisors who are highly respected for their knowledge and integrity in the supervision of lumber production, grading and grade marking.

quality-control-01COFI is accredited by the American Lumber Standards Committee (ALSC) and the Canadian Lumber Standards Accreditation Board (CLSAB), among other organizations, to provide lumber inspection, certification and grade marking.

Services provided by COFI’s Quality Control Program include:

  • Lumber quality control and mill inspections
  • Lumber grade certification and reinspection
  • Mill grader certification, education and training
  • Heat Treatment Certification to meet foreign import requirements
  • Participation in the development and maintenance of the National Lumber Grades and of special product standards for glued and machine stress rated lumber

Membership in COFI’s Quality Control program is open to any primary or secondary softwood lumber manufacturer or remanufacturer operating in the interior of British Columbia. Member representatives serve on COFI’s Quality Control Steering Committee to develop policy and guide the actions of the organization’s staff.
