Forest Education
Making sure tomorrow’s leaders are well-informed by promoting a wood culture message about the forest industry is a key component of sustainability for our industry and for communities throughout BC.  Forest educators work at COFI’s Northern Operations Office in Prince George and Southern Operations Office in Kelowna, providing current, balanced and factual information about the forest resource as well as industry issues to the general public and teachers and students at public, private and post-secondary institutions across BC’s interior.

In partnership with industry professionals and industry educational liaisons, forest education is promoted throughout the year with a wide variety of activities such as teacher Professional Development Day workshops, field tours, class presentations, guest speakers, National Forest Week events, industry tours and career awareness camps. Hands-on forest education resources as tree cookies, beetle-infested wood and tree ID samples are available to teachers, along with forestry resource kits, industry career information, website links, posters and audiovisual supplies, all linked to BC’s school curriculum.
