Mandate
The mandate of the forestry division is to work provincially to achieve an adequate, available and affordable supply of commercial timber in the province within a framework of socially, economically and environmentally sound forest policies.

Major Functions and Responsibilities
  • Identify and prioritize forestry issues of provincial significance.
  • Manage provincial and interior forestry issues by keeping informed of their status and direction and developing and promoting a proactive forestry agenda for the provincial forest industry.
  • Respond to government forestry initiatives by determining the implications for the members, developing a COFI position and working to ensure that position is understood and accepted by allies and by the government.
  • Gather, produce and disseminate information to engage members, government, the public and stakeholders in proactive and constructive forestry dialogue.
