Mandate
Promote changes to environmental legislation and policies that will enhance or maintain the competitive environment for member company operations while protecting the environment.
Major Functions and Responsibilities
- Identify and prioritize environmental issues of significance to the membership
- Develop strategies to affect change to environmental policies that have a negative impact on member competitiveness.
- Work with regulators to ensure that environmental legislation, regulations and standards are based on sound science, technically achievable, economically viable, and have been given the benefit of environmental and health risk assessment and cost benefit analysis.
- Gather and disseminate information to members on legislative, regulatory and policy initiatives and issues that will affect their operations.
- Co-operate with other organizations to promote changes to environmental regulations and standards affecting the industry.

- Landfill and Sawmill Codes of Practice.
- Contaminated Sites Legislation
- Development of a Provincial Air Quality Strategy
- Provincial action related to Climate Change and other federal regulation.
